Frequently Asked Questions about the ALT

Why should I join ALT – I already belong to the Society of Legal Scholars?

The two associations attract different members for different reasons, but many join both. The ALT is an international organisation and the annual conference attracts delegates from across the world who deliver papers on both substantive law and aspects of teaching the law. The ALT specialises in the pedagogical aspects of law teaching.

I teach law in a sixth form college. Can I join the ALT?

Yes – the ALT welcomes law teachers from all environments: school, college, further and higher education.

How do I find out who else is a member of the ALT?

All members receive a directory of members which is updated annually. It is hoped to put this online in the near future so that members can contact each other through e-mail hyperlinks.
